Contextual Fit
A family of four has just moved into the Smith House. The family consists of a husband and wife with their two children, a son and a daughter. The husband is a realtor who primarily works with coastal or beach front properties since he’s from a coastal beach town. In his spare time he enjoys surfing, relaxing on the beach and working out. The wife is a marine biologist who also enjoys a beachy lifestyle. She too enjoys relaxing by the water but also has interest in swimming and scuba diving. The couple enjoy spending time with their family and relaxing after a hard day of work. They also both love the ocean. The kids enjoy playing on the beach and learning about the sea creatures their mother works with. Thus they are looking for the addition to their home to include a relaxing, less formal family space, a master suite for time for themselves, an exercise room since both have physical hobbies and an outdoor space looking over the water. They said they want the family room to be the focal point of their new extension and for the expansion as a whole to have a coastal feel.
